After Texas Hold'em, Omaha is a popular poker variant that is played at both real world and online casinos. Omaha Hold'em, usually referred to as just Omaha, is similar to Texas Holden in terms of game play. The only difference however, is the number of cards dealt to the player. Even in Omaha Hold'em, the player has to form the best 5-card hand. However, of the five cards, 2 must come from the 4 hole cards dealt to the player and the remaining 3 should be from the 5 community cards that the dealer places from the deck.

How to Play Omaha

Playing Omaha Hold'em is similar to playing Texas Hold'em, except for the fact that the pocket or hole cards are more. So in this case, the player has to use his or her knowledge of the game and the community cards available with extra care to pick the right cards from both sets to form a solid winning hand. The action in Omaha poker online is more, because the player cannot really determine whether or not to continue based on the hole cards alone.

In Omaha, as in Texas Hold'em, there are four rounds of:

  • Deal, where the player is dealt 4 hole cards
  • This is followed by the second round where players can check, bet, call, raise or fold
  • The button and blind bets
  • Fourth Street or Turn and
  • Fifth Street or River

The final round is the round of final betting, which also determines the winner of Omaha poker online.
