Casino Roulette

Think of a casino and you automatically picture the spinning of a wheel with a ball rolling in it. Roulette is one of the most popular casino games around the world today. Its simplicity is one of the reasons for its popularity, with the possibility of wining big money being the other. Roulette is a game that can be played by players of any skill level. Today, you don’t even have to step outside your home to play his exciting casino game. You can log into one of the thousand online casinos and play it from the comforts of your home.

Roulette Variants

When you walk into a brick-and-mortar casino, there are usually two types of roulette tables. One is the American roulette and the other is the European roulette. The difference in the two variants is that the American roulette wheel has an extra zero while the European roulette wheel has only one zero. So you have a better chance to win at a European roulette table than you have at an American one. Every table has a roulette wheel and a betting table.

The number of casino roulette variants is more online. Besides American and European, you will come across several other roulette casino variants like French roulette, 3D roulette, Roulette pro, multiplayer roulette, mini roulette and more. The essence of the game remains the same, only the bets and the rules are slightly modified to give variety to the players.

How to Play Roulette

Roulette is one of the simplest and easiest games to play in a casino. Whether you play online or at a land-based casino, the betting rules and the odds of your winning remain the same. At the same time, simple games like roulette also have a higher house edge. It also means that your chances of winning aren’t as great in roulette as they are with other games like blackjack or poker.

Equiqment in Roulette

There are two main items in play in a game of roulette: the betting table and the spinning wheel. The name “Roulette” refers to the spinning wheel as it means “little wheel” in French. The table has an arrangement of numbers and a set of options that you can choose from while placing your bet. The roulette wheel has 37 slots in it (American variant has 38), with numbers from 0 to 36. Each number on the spinning wheel corresponds to a number on the table. The slots are colored in green and red, or black and red, alternately and the number 0 is in the green colored slot. Most betting tables have many other options which can be used while betting, such as odd, even , red, black/green, 1 to 18, 19 to 36, first 12, second 12, third twelve and so on.

Every player is given a certain number of chips, without any denominations on them, and the value of each chip is determined by dividing the total buy-in divided by the number of chips. People who have frequented actual casinos would have noticed that the betting chips used for Roulette is not like the other casino chips. The main reason is that everyone in the game places their chips on the betting table, and it would be hard to keep track of who placed bets without associating each set of chips with a single gambler.

Method of play

The dealer in Roulette is known as a “croupier”, and he or she is responsible for sending the small white ball on the spinning wheel, which will eventually land on any of the 37 or 38 slots. A new round in Roulette begins when the croupier clears the table and pays the winners. A few seconds are given to allow the gamblers to place their bets. Once everyone around the table has placed their bets, the croupier will announce “No more bets”, and drop the ball into the spinning wheel.

Bets can be on a single number, on even or odd numbers, red or green/black colored slots, on the number 0 or 00, and on other numbers according to the betting table. The lesser the probability of the ball landing on the bet, the higher the payout will be. So if you put all your chips on a single number on the table, you will get the highest payout. But if you bet on large sets of numbers such as red, black/green, even, odd or dozen, you will get significantly lesser payout.
